10 Spring Break Activity Ideas to Entertain Your Kids

Kids tend to get bored easily, whereas parents often run out of ideas to keep them entertained. Many parents resort to TV or video games to keep their kids busy. Here are some great, fun ideas to keep your kids entertained throughout spring break. You may need to adapt or modify these IDEAS to fit your child.

1. Splash!

There is nothing better than swimming or playing in the water. Take kids for a day to the beach, if possible, or visit a local pool. If you don’t feel like driving anywhere, turn on your sprinklers and watch your kids have fun. You can even get water balloons and water guns and have a water fight.

2. A trip to the zoo:

What could be more fun than a trip to the zoo? Teach your kids to take pictures of all the animals they see and help them ask Seri or Google to make their very own zoological reference book. This way, you can turn an otherwise ordinary visit to the zoo into a learning project. This will not only increase your kids’ interest in the activity but will also help them learn loads of things about animals.

3. Camping trips:

Kids love camping. You don’t have to go out in the wild for camping; set up a camp in your house or backyard and have just as much fun. Make sure you make it as real as possible (no cell phones!). Have a cookout in the yard, sing songs, and tell each other spooky stories. You’ll learn that you don’t need the woods, bugs, and bears for camping.

4. Organize a treasure hunt:

Organize a treasure hunt and hide “treasures” inside and outside (if possible) your house. Make pictures, puzzles, or clues, for kids to use/solve to find the treasure. Kids are bound to love this adventurous activity.

5. Picnic in the Garden:

A holiday without picnics is unimaginable. Weather permitting, pack up your picnic basket and picnic in the park. If not, pick a special spot inside your house and spread a picnic blanket on the floor.

6. Bake some cookies:

There is nothing like an afternoon in the kitchen with your children baking cookies. Start off with simple recipes and help them make their first batch.

7. Out in the garden:

Give your child a small patch in the garden and help him or her plant different things. Kids can learn to weed, water, and care for plants as they grow.

8. Creativity with paper or rocks:

Search online or on Pinterest for instructions on paper crafts, or painted rocks and help your kids make all sorts of things. This will cost you nothing and help bring out your kids’ creative side.

9. Build your own house:

Get some cardboard boxes and let your kids construct their own house with your help. Tell them to be as creative as possible and help them decorate their houses.

10. Courses and workshops:

Find out if any special courses or workshops are being conducted in your area for kids during the break.
