CAMP KODIAK

A place to grow…
Camp Kodiak is an integrated, non-competitive camp serving children and teens with and without LD, ADHD, NLD and Asperger Syndrome. Our campers range in age from 6 to 18. Our program includes a SOCIAL SKILLS PROGRAM, an ACADEMIC PROGRAM and over 50 sports & activities. We build confidence and self-esteem by structuring all activities, athletic, artistic and social, to ensure success. Our staff includes teachers, psychologists, social workers, child & youth workers and recreation specialists. Our camper-to-staff ratio is 2-to-1 and our cabin groups are small.
We are located 2 1/2 hours northeast of Toronto in the beautiful Parry Sound vacation area. Our facilities include modern, lakefront, log cabins with full bathrooms and showers, 425 acres of land and 2 1/2 miles of lakefront. Our extensive indoor and outdoor facilities mean that the fun never stops, rain or shine. We are accredited members of the Ontario Camps Association and the Canadian Camping Association.
In 2007, at parents’ request, we started a program for campers age 19 and over. We call it Club Kodiak. In addition to our recreational, athletic and social programs, we offer our Club Kodiak guests a life skills program. Please see our web site for details. https://www.campkodiak.com/

CAMP THUNDERBIRD
Apopka, Florida
Since 1969, Quest’s Camp Thunderbird has been dedicated to providing a real summer camp experience for people with special needs. Because of the physical and behavioral challenges associated with Down syndrome, autism, mental retardation, Cerebral Palsy and other developmental disabilities, these children and adults aren’t typically eligible to attend traditional camps. Camp Thunderbird is their chance to learn new skills and focus on the remarkable things they can do, while making new friends and unforgettable memories.
In addition to providing each camper with an outstanding experience, Camp Thunderbird’s six- and 12-day overnight sessions also give parents and guardians a much-needed break from the demands of 24-hour care giving. For many families, this respite is their first chance to relax, spend time with friends, or even take a vacation knowing that their loved one is receiving quality care and attention.
Camp Thunderbird’s program encourages independence and ownership of our camper’s experience, as campers participate in choice programs that allow campers to pursue their own interests and expand on their talents. Campers can choose from a variety of programs that include, but are not limited to, sports and games, arts and crafts, music and drama, aquatics, nature, teambuilding, high ropes course, low ropes course, and much, much more. Camp Thunderbird also prides itself on bringing in exciting outside visitors to camp to enhance our campers experience.
