Back to School Shopping Savers for New Clothes
Back to School Shopping Savers for New Clothes
We know that as children get older, their tastes become much more than simple. Research has shown that older adolescents are less satisfied with their clothes and their bodies than younger adolescents. There is also a gender difference between boys and girls where girls tend to be more focused on physical attractiveness, while boys tend to be more focused on physical effectiveness (how well their body parts work).
Whatever the case may be, one of the biggest concerns among parents is over-spending or not budgeting enough to satisfy a child’s back-to-school wardrobe. One of the most important tips for parents is to KEEP IT SIMPLE! Set the ground rules with your children before you go shopping so they are aware of how much they can spend on their back-to-school attire. This is especially important for adolescents who put a high value on the clothes they wear.
Here are some “KEEP IT SIMPLE TIPS” for parents when purchasing back-to-school clothes for their children:
- First, take an inventory of what clothes your child has. Often times, there are clothes that have been in the drawer that are brand new, still fit, and are perfectly good to wear.
- Look for sales and/or coupons in flyers, newspapers, and online.
- Give your child a time limit for looking in the store.
- Tell your child what the budget amount is for picking out the new clothes and STICK TO THAT! You can show you mean business by only paying with CASH!
- Do clothes swaps with other parents that you may know.
- If you are very creative, you can make your children clothes.
