A Family Fun Activity: Create This Colorful Peace Dove Picture
One of the best gifts you can give others is something you make yourself. This Peace Dove craft project is fun and easy, letting your child create beautiful works of art for your home and to give to others.
All you need is a canvas, a roll of blue painter’s tape, some colorful construction paper, a glue stick, a bottle of Mod Podge, a paintbrush, cardstock for the dove cutout, and a black marker or sharpie to write the word “peace.”
Your child can (or with your help) tear long strips of construction paper. You want them torn, not cut with scissors, to get that jagged edge effect that you see in the picture. Once the strips are ready, use the blue painter’s tape to block off the bottom of the canvas, as shown. This is to keep it clean for the wording later.
Have your child (with your help, if needed) use the glue stick to attach the strips of construction paper to the canvas, letting long ones wrap around the back as shown.
Print the dove template on cardstock and cut it out. Your child can then glue the dove to the middle of the construction paper, as shown in the photo.
Use the paintbrush to cover them with a thin layer of Mod Podge.
Remove the blue tape while letting the Mod Podge dry for about 15 minutes.
Your child can then write “PEACE” on the bottom white section. You can help them with this if needed.
Your child now has a beautiful canvas to display or share with others.
