Exiting the Short Bus
“Exiting the Short Bus”
Dr. Jack Fellow Crews is the Author of “Exiting the Short Bus”. Dr. Crews earned his Doctorate at Northern Arizona University and is the Associate Dean for the School of Advanced Studies at the University of Phoenix. Dr. Fellows is the father of Kylee and this book gives a view of Kylee’s life with a disability.
The reader follows the path of Kylee from her starting school riding the “short bus” to graduating Cum Laude. The “short bus” in many areas of the country is for children with special needs, other children ride the “regular” bus. Kylee’s journey gives the reader a perspective that is both inspirational and educational.
Exiting the Short Bus is insightful and informative. With the current reform in special education taking a very hodgepodge approach to inclusion, how are the special needs children prepared for their education during school years and for life after high school?
Through Kylee’s experience as a child with special needs, along with her Father’s years of experience in the Education System, parents searching for answers regarding the quality of inclusion and the education process may find that this book addresses many of their concerns.
