From the Heart: Time of Year to be Reflective Grateful and Loving
Each year, at this time, I always ask myself “where has the time gone”? It seems like time is flying by. The truth is that time is really flying by. I mark the years with progress that my child has made, milestones reached (and not reached), progress notes from my therapists…. you get the picture. But, as I stop to take a breath (which seems like I do less and less), I realize that this time of year is when I get to be thankful for everything in my life. Perhaps the old saying is correct: “we save the best for last”.
November is Thanksgiving and December brings the Holidays. Both times of year are times to be reflective, grateful, loving, and even, dare I say, optimistic of all that the new year can offer. I get to look back at progress made and look forward to new goals and achievements. No matter the size of the achievements, they are, nonetheless, achievements.
Speaking of achievements, PSN has helped launch an awareness campaign in Indian River County, Florida to help raise awareness about different abilities during the month of October. October is Disability Awareness Month. Now you might ask yourself, “how is October relevant to the November/December issue”? Well, the truth is that we want everyone to be looking forward to the new year and to be thinking of how they can help their own district be more proactive about increasing awareness. Remember, together we can create change through understanding. We are, after all, a community united together to make a difference. One person at a time, we can make a difference.
I hope that this year has been one filled with more “ups” than “downs” and more “love” than “loss”. I look forward to hearing from you in the future as I have in the past.
Happy Holidays!
